University of Massachusetts Boston

The University of Massachusetts was founded in 1852 and is a public research university that belongs to the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, and Urban 13. UMass Boston is another name for the university. The university was once known as Boston State College. With 1,240 undergraduate students, the first classes began in 1965. ‘The Mass Media,’ the university’s first student newspaper, was launched in 1966. Enrollment increased from 1,240 to 2,500 students by 1968. WUMB-FM, a folk music radio station, was founded by a group of students the same year.

The university’s campus encompasses 120 acres of land. The Harbour campus is what it’s called. A campus centre, university hall, Wheatley hall, science centre, McCormack Hall, Healey library, administration building, service & supply building, integrated science complex, athletic centre, east residence hall, west residence hall, and west garage are among the facilities on the site. On campus, students have access to all of the necessary amenities. Near the campuses, there are numerous eateries and cafes. It is also close to some stationery stores, department stores, and pharmacies for the convenience of students. The campus has easy access to public transportation.

The facility provides a calm study atmosphere for the pupils. The university houses the Centre for Environmental Health, Science & Technology, Centre for Green Chemistry, Centre for Social Policy, Labour Resource Centre, Centre for Survey Research, Centre for Social Development, Institute for International & Comparative Education, Institute for Learning & Teaching, and Institute for Asian American Studies.

Undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes are available at the university. The university has a total of 16,164 students. There are 12,714 undergraduate students and 3,450 postgraduate students in the undergraduate programme. The university’s academic structure consists of eight colleges: the Liberal Arts College, the College of Science and Mathematics, the College of Management, the College of Education & Human Development, the College of Nursing & Health Sciences, the College for the Environment, the College of Advancing & Professional Studies, and the College of Public and Community Service. Students are supervised by knowledgeable faculty members. Student exchange programmes are also available at the university. Students are given a wide range of subjects from which to choose.
