The Cleveland State University (CSU) was founded in the 1880s when the Cleveland YMCA began giving evening and day classes to disadvantaged students. The YMCA curriculum was restructured as the Association Institute in 1906, and Fenn College was founded in 1929. Cleveland State University was founded as a state-aided college in 1964, and it took over Fenn College’s campus, curriculum, and faculty. The university is currently accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Its varied programmes have also been accredited by a number of notable organisations. The university has ten schools and colleges dedicated to various disciplines of study.

The main campus of Cleveland State University spans 85 acres in size and contains more than 40 buildings. It is located in the heart of downtown Cleveland. The campus features a top-notch infrastructure with top-notch amenities. The University Library, several faculty offices, and large classrooms are all housed in the nineteen-story Rhodes Tower. Aside from academics, the campus has facilities for basketball, golf, fencing, soccer, wrestling, swimming, lacrosse, tennis, softball, and volleyball, among other activities. Cleveland State University International Admissions

The Center for International Services and Programs serves as the hub for all international activities on campus. Through International Student Orientation, immigration advising, social events, and cultural adjustment support, they help international students connect to university and the local community. F-1, F-2, and J-1 students can get immigration advice and academic support through International Student Services, which is part of the Center for International Services & Programs. This office also provides specialist advice to sponsored students.

Following are the requirements for international admissions:

  • Transcripts:
    • All secondary school records, including certificates.
    •  All school records are required to be submitted in the original language accompanied by a certified English translation.
  • Cumulative secondary school GPA should be equivalent to a 2.3 on the US grading scale for most programs.
  • The exceptions to the GPA requirement are
    • The College of Engineering, which requires a 3.0 score (83-86%)
    • The College of Education and Human Services, which requires a 2.5 score (77-79%)
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • ACT or SAT scores for UG applicants
  • Financial verification: 
    • In order to receive a certificate of eligibility for a student visa (Form I-20 or Form DS-2019) from Cleveland State University (CSU), all international students must submit documentation of financial support for one academic year.
